PC not detecting controllers

So recently in my other post made about xbox controller to pc. Ive been trying to get some controllers to work. Recently i tried a ps2 controller but no luck. The issue i am having is the adapter to change the ps2 plug into a usb. My pc is only detecting the usb but not the controller. it makes the sound for the usb. even without the controller. It will not detect any controller i have tried. i am unsure how to do this. Tried to see if there was a problem but none came up. if i go to add device it will not locate or find anything or it just takes a really long time.

I know there is power to the controller when the red light for the analog is on.

I have tried using it to connect a ps2 Guitar hero controller to Wii for rock band but no luck there as well. Not sure if its the adapter or the controllers.

i have gotten it but i am not to worried about it because for wireless i need a usb receiver  and apparently i lost the usb adapter for my wired xbox controller

Might want to try re installing your usb drivers. Something is gunked up in there.

OK OK sorry, had to! I've never had to do it, so it's at your own risk. But I have seen it recommended before for issues like yours.
